This week, my Google algorithm helped me pick the topic for today's newsletter: Positive Thinking. It's like I've been searching so much for positivity that now my online world is just full of it.
With the approaching of Fall, I took some time to think about my strengths – things I'm naturally good at, feelings that boost my energy and confidence, and behaviors that motivate me.
I decided to focus on what I'm good at and make it a part of my everyday life, using these strengths in the right situations. After a few days of doing exercises that highlighted my strengths (and also areas where I can grow), I noticed a positive change in how I talk and think. I also found evidence that backs up what I observed about strengths, and I learned about the many benefits of understanding our strengths. These include feeling more confident and motivated, being happier at work, getting more done, feeling engaged, thinking positively about ourselves, and appreciating what makes us unique.
Through these activities I realized the importance on focusing on positive thinking and training my mind to find the good things in myself and around me.
So, what's positive thinking or having an optimistic attitude?
It means trying to see the good in any situation. Positive thoughts have lots of good effects on our body and mind (like living longer, being healthier, recovering faster from being sick or hurt, feeling less sad or stressed, being more creative, and thinking more clearly). But according to Barbara Fredrickson, a positive psychologist from the University of North Carolina, the best thing about positive thinking is that it makes us think about more possibilities and opens our minds. This helps us learn new things, use our strengths, and build things that can make our lives better.
But it's not as easy as it sounds... When I looked for ways to get better at being positive, I realized there are so many ideas on the internet. It's hard to tell which ones are really helpful. So, I decided to pick the best ideas based on some important rules. These rules would help me keep going, stay motivated, and succeed in reaching my goal.
Here's what I'm going to do:
Every day, I'll write down something good that happened or that I noticed. I made a chart, printed it out, and put it up in my office.
Each day, I'll say something nice about myself or someone I meet – a friend, coworker, or even someone I see in passing.
Every week, I'll share a positive thought with my friends and ask them to share too.
As I step into this journey of positive thinking, I'm embracing my strengths and the magic of positivity. The strategies I've picked light up my path like stepping stones to a better life. I'm capturing good moments and sharing kindness, planting seeds of optimism that will grow into happiness by the end of the year – small things that make my life better and touch others too.
I'm following important practices that build my strength, motivation, and success story. Embracing positivity means embracing a fuller, happier life. Each day, I add positivity, kindness, and hope to my life's picture, excited to see the result. The future's mysteries are like brushstrokes on this journey.
Believing in myself, I'm not just saying things; I'm telling the universe what I want – that I'm the one writing my story. Cheers to the year ahead, a blank canvas ready for positivity, strength, and growth. Ready to face challenges with a good attitude, it's not just about what happens; it's how I deal with it. With each good thought, smile, and special moment, I'm building a life full of positivity. This is my promise, my adventure, and my welcome to anyone who wants to join – let's create our own amazing lives, one day at a time.
POSITIVE AFFIRMATION – I believe in myself and my ability to achieve my goals. – Please share!
Thank you for reading!
